Question:

Can I change my automatic transmission to manual?

I was wondering if it's possible to change the transmission on my 2006 dodge charger. I'm not sure which one would fit since the whole line of the new dodge chargers don't come with a manual transmission (if I'm correct). What do I need to change (in terms of parts) to change from an automatic transmission to a manual transmission? and how much would it cost? and last but not least, which car would be best to take a manual transmission from?

  1. This type of mechanical work is not easy at all. First you have to buy the tranmission, the flywheel, the pressure plate, and the clutch assembly are just some of the things that a manual transmission has. If you wanted to just by a new transmission, you could do that but would still need a ton of parts. This is completely insane to be totally honest, this would require way to much work and money. It isn't worth it, especially if you plan on eventually selling the car.  The ECU only knows the car as an automatic, so that would most likely have to be replaced to. It is probably just cheaper to buy a manual car then to do this.

  2. OMG.  This is asked like 10 times a day.

Yes.  But the quality of the car would be completely dependent on the skill level of the mechanic who does the work.

If you are correct then much of the missing parts have to be fabricated.  So again, most mechanics would not know how to do that.

    Few grands easily.

    Good Luck...

  3. it can b dun

but i think you will spend at least 6000$ to do this not worth it the cost of the trany in not cheep ans a costom install is eavin more costly

  4. yes it can. u could take the manual transmission from any dodge that is made in the same year or 1-2 years before it. sorry i cant tell you how much due to the price would vary and as for parts still no clue. hopefully some one with more "car smarts" will answer what i have not. best of luck.
