Can I change my hotel if i don't like it?

i am in a small hotel in Puert Rico. i am not happy coz it's not too clean and is not what i expected. i paid three nights already and have spent one but want to spend other too in a better hotel. how do hotel rules or practices work in these cases? thanks for your advice

It really depends on your rate type, and how you booked the hotel.  If you got a discounted rate for booking early, then chances are you will not get a refund for the nights you have already paid for.  If you paid the full rate, then of course they will most likely give you a refund.  If you booked through a site like Orbitz or Hotwire, then good luck getting a refund from them.  You are actually paying those sites and not the hotel so you have to deal with them.  They will give you the run around and say that you have to go through the hotel and the hotel will say you have to go through them.  If you have a legitimate enough complaint as to why you need to leave, then they should give you a refund but I wouldn't expect it quickly.
