Question:

Can I claim an Asian ancestry?

Maybe I am pushing this way past the appropriate point, but I was wondering, if we (American Indians) have an Asian ancestry, wouldn't it be alright to claim an Asian ancestry through our native heritage like saying, "I am American Indian so I am of Asian descent." Is that okay?

  1. Consider:

"This sad little lizard told me that he was a brontosaurus on his mother's side. I did not laugh; people who boast of ancestry often have little else to sustain them. Humoring them costs nothing and adds to happiness in a world in which happiness is always in short supply."

  2. Why bother ,you will only be laughed at. First it was 'Indians' now some call you 'native Americans' where will it end? My family has ben here seven generations and we don't call ourselves European Americans, but just Americans.

  3. You could claim African ancestry since Africa seems to be the birthplace of humans.  Who would care?  It is not like Asians  get special treatment, do they?  You might get excluded from some colleges that have too many Asians.

  4. Yeah, Native Americans are an Asian ethnic group that came to America. So I think technically you could claim Asian.
