Question:

Can I clean the kitten's eye?

The mostly-feral cat that lives out in my backyard had kittens 11 days ago. Their eyes are mostly open by now, but one is glued shut by eye boogers. I'm afraid if I touch them that she will abandon them, so hat should I do?

  1. 1.yes you can clean the eyes .Use a soft wet ,warm paper towel and wipe them lightly toward the nose..2...she will not abandon her kittens. The most she would do is move location of kittens...try to give the mother cat attention to so she will get to trust you around her kittens.Put some cat food and water out for her  mama cat needs all the food she can get..jenny d.

  2. Its ok she will still like the kittens and to clean out the boogies just take a tissue and gently swipe off the boogies! we use to do that when my kitten was little

  3. She wont abandon them but she may move them if she feels your are a threat.  You can clean them out with a wet cloth but they may be signs of an upper respiratory infection.  Look for any sneezing or discharge, I know there isn't much you can do because she is feral but you may need to get them on some antibiotics.  You would be doing them a favor if you can catch them when they are weaned and try to find homes for them.  Try talking to your vet, they may take strays and find them homes or a rescue!  This is why there are so many animals euthanized every year.  Imagine how many kittens this litter will produce next year and so on and so on!
