Question:

Can I collect on a twenty five year old Christmas club account?

years ago, I worked for this company that took a couple of dollars from my paycheck for a Christmas club account. I have tried to collect this money in the past, but never called the corporate office on the matter, because the one time that I tried to contact them, the office had closed and relocated to someplace that I don't know. Am I just wasting my time at trying to get this money, or is there a chance that it's out there just waiting for me to claim it?

  1. ANY account that has been dormant for 25 years has been turned over to the state.  Pick your favorite search engine and search for the name of the state where you had the account and the words "Unclaimed funds".  Pick the state site from the results and you follow the instructions to locate and claim your funds.  NOTE: the account stopped earning ANYTHING at least 15 years ago.

  2. It depends on how much money you put in, because Christmas club accounts earn little to no interest. I'd definitely pursue it to some extent, but I wouldn't go to too much trouble.

  3. Not enough info.......how much money..........
