Can I connect a Digital I/O jack SB Audigy to a Coaxial Digital Audio Input?

I have a ZON Home Audio system (a switched speaker system www.zonaudio.com). I want to play music from my PC which has a SoundBlaster Audigy 4 Sound Card. It has an Digital output described in the manual as follows

Digital I/O jack (DIGITAL_IO) - Connects to external digital devices or digital speaker systems (6-channel or compressed AC-3 SPDIF output).

The ZON system has an input module called ZIM-4, which has a Digital Audio Input Coax type. It also has analog input jacks (RCA type) and Digital Audio Optical Input (TOS Link type).

Will this connection work to the digital coax and what sort of cable should I buy? Would one of the connections be better for a SB Audigy 4?

Thanks

Ash

  1. Looking at the spec's on the websites you "should" be able to connect them with just a standard coax cable - like one you would use to connect analog componets.  You can buy any number of very expensive cables, but you should be able to verify that it works with a standard one.  I personally don't beleive that the expensive cables are any better, but that's just me.

    Good Luck!
