Can I connect a tv with free view to dvd/hdd recorder using aerial input to tv and a scart cable between?

when searching for programs on dvd/hdd recorder no seeing any signal. Do I need to connect aerial to DVD/HDD also?

  1. Most TVs with built-in Freeview tuners should have at least one bi-directional Scart connection so you can make DTV recordings on any recorder linked to this socket.  TV's AV2 is connected to the DVD recorder AV1 via SCART.
