Question:

Can I connect my Panasonic NV-DS33 to my laptop?

I have a Panasonic NV-DS33 camcorder that apparently has the capability of connecting to my laptop, there are several connecting sockets, most of which are for the television. However, it appears there is a socket on the front of the camera itself and then on the connecting base there is a socket marked as "S-Video", which I have connected to the laptop via a cable, but Windows XP doesn't seem to detect it.

Any help?

  1. What is it your trying to do is

Trying to transfer Video footage to laptop from Camcorder

for which you need a DV Cable (FireWire IEE1394)

    But

Your Laptop must have a FireWire connection (usually 4 pin)

if not you can get a card which slots into your notebook

    or

To connect via S-Video, your Notebook must have a S-Video In.... But most Notebooks are S-Video Out (to display notebook screen on a TV or LCD)

So you need to get a Capture Card like the Dazzle

Which connects into a spare USB port , which has a S-Video In

    .

  2. you may have to get a video capture cable to connect the camera to your pc?
