There is a plug in telephone line for computers in my hotel room - how would I connect that to my computer? Do I need to take my BT router with me to use the connection at the hotel? Idiot proof answer is necessary.

thanks

  1. As the above answers say there's usually lan or wireless connection in hotels. However watch out for the cost - in Marriott Hotels for example the connection is NOT free. You should see a book in your room with all the facilites of the hotel in, and the cost of internet is usually in there.

  2. Usually it's just a lan connection, which they usually have at the front desk. However some hotels will charge for the line. Check it out. good luck

  3. Yes you can connect in a hotel room.  Most hotels today offer wireless and LAN connections, many of them being free.

You can also use old fashioned dial up in hotels.

Your PC needs to be LAN, or Wireless ready to use it in a hotel.  The hotel will give you what ever information you need to connect to the LAN or wireless network in the hotel.  I do suggest that if you are going to use the LAN (Ethernet) connection you bring along your own cable.

  4. Many hotels now offer free internet service but if you want to use your personal computer you can ask the receptionist for the sometimes "free" temporary network password.
