Can I connect my home phone to my laptop?

Question

I have this cute pink phone but i don't have a phone like outlet thing (like the stuff you usually connect phones to that are stuck on the wall, the hole) and my phone comes with this phone line and the end of it can stick into the hole in my laptop so i stuck it in and i stuck the other end of the wire to my phone:) but it's not doing anything. Could i make it work somehow? because i really like the phone but i can use it.:(

Why don't you buy USB phone and get it attached to the laptop.

no....!    you just cant stick any phone into the hole on your laptop!!!

it doest work that way...but you can get a MagicJack.....and then put any phone in to the MJ hole!!

No, you cant do that. won't work. too much hassle to try other suggestions just for the phone.
