i woke up a few days ago with a pain in my left knee. after a few days i realized that i have runner's knee. most websites say to take some time off to heal. however, i am in the middle of my summer training for cross country. i am doing 50-60 mile weeks and taking off would kill me. can i continue to run and use alternate means to heal my injury?

  1. I had a problem with my need also so I started doing lunges to build up so my quad is stronger also when i feel pain is when my mid sole in my shoe breaks down .when this happens i take an extra rest day and cut back on mile for a week .and go back to my normal miles the next week also if  go beyond the ten percent level my knee hurts because i don't have the strength to keep going so it pays h**l on my joints

  2. I am on the cross country team and track team at my high school, and im also in training for the season which is about to start!  I would suggest taking off a few days.  (atleast 2)  My coach told me that you need a break every few months where you take about 3-4 days off just to recuperate since we run 6 days a week!  And since you are injured, it couldn't hurt to take a few days off!  Also, a few months ago i took a few days off just to rest and i came back and ran my PR.  i hope that helped!  =)
