Can I convert h1 to h4 while in India?

I'm on my trip to India with advance parole. Can I change my status from H1 to h4 while in India and get H4 stamped before I return. Is it still valid if I convet from my visa status being abroad

You can change your status as long as it is allowed by the embassy.

If you have an advance parole document, that means that you are in the process of adjusting status to permanent resident.  Under that circumstance, you are not entitled to a nonimmigrant visa unless you have decided not to get the green card.  In that case, you will have to speak with the DHS representative in New Delhi in order to abandon your adjustment.  Then you can apply for the H4 visa, if your spouse is in the US with an H1.
