Can I convert my car to a hybrid?

I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to convert an automonile into a hybrid?

well, i know that there is something u can make that uses hydrogen to help power your car, and it almost doubles gas mileage, i know a guy who has done it, but i myself dont know how to do it

The kit hypermiler is talking about is not a true hybrid conversion. I've seen an article for a TRUE hybrid conversion kit that is going to be sold (it's an electric engine plus battery pack that can be fitted to your car), but it's only available on certain vehicles, and is going to cost in the neighborhood of $10,000. Not exactly a good value, IMO.

I'm sure you could but all that customization would probably be super expensive

so it would probably be more economic to just buy an already hybrid car.

You sure can, its called a hydrogen on demand converter. People have been doing it for years. I just put one on my 1995 Ford Bronco XLT. There are a bunch of sites out there. I bought mine at www.bluwavehybrid.com

Because of the cost and engineering it would take to optimize any car for duel-fuel use, it is usually prohibitive for the average driver to try to do it. Peope who are engineers or technicians in the field can often do it on the cheap due to their particular knowledge, but most people don't have the time or knowledge for an undertaking like this that would produce a workable result.

Only exception would be the diesel, which has shown itself adaptable to using bio-fuel fairly easily. Unless you have one, though, trying to convert your own gas auto into a duel-use machine will probably be highly frustrating and very expensive. So unless you have the knowledge, it's best to try to buy one rather than do it yourself, unless you have the time and patience ( and a spare car ) to work on this project.
