Can I convert stereo to 5.1(AC3) using any conversion software ?

Hi,

I have a 5.1 sound card installed but I have only 2.1 speakers connected to the sound card, so is there any software which plays the 5.1 audio in the same speakers, more like a virtual 5.1 effect ?

If you only have a 2.1, you can only play in 2.1, Thats It!

If your predicament was you had 5.1 speakers, and 2 way (Or stereo) soundcard, most speakers today have a virutal 5.1 function. All it does it try to split up the frequencies ie bass, vocals, etc.
