One of the commandments is not to sleep with men. Will an Orthodox beit din still accept me as a convert even though I live with my boyfriend. (My boyfriend is Jewish.)

  1. No

Judaism doesnt care what you think. But homosexual actions are flat out forbidden in Orthodox Judaism. BUT......Conservative judaism and reform judaism accept homosexuals and their actions, i am orthodox and dont have a problem with this so it depends on the Jew.

  2. I cannot speak for an Orthodox conversion and the advantage to having an Orthodox conversion is that it would be recognized by all other denominations.

However as far as most Reform congregations, your sexuality would be a non issue and would not be a factor in your converting to Judaism.

  3. I smell troll. Lets not feed it boys and girls. Read his question history. He's just trying to upset people.

  4. I actually have a good friend who is g*y and converted to Judaism.  I was actually shocked to find out he had converted because I was always invited over to his house for Passover seders and Rosh Hashanah dinners.

  5. You can become a Christian if you're g*y because God loves you. He just hates the sin. He can give you strength if you ask for it to resist temptation. Start living a life of purity and start your walk with Jesus Christ. In Christianity it's not about converting from religion to religion, it's about believing  with all your heart that Jesus died on the cross for your sins because He loves YOU. Christianity is more than a religion, it's a lifestyle.

  6. In the rare case that you are serious (although based on some of your other questions, I have my doubts), that is not one of the commandments.

You might want to check with Reconstructionist Judaism; they are very accepting and in fact, there are a number of L*****n Rabbis in their ranks.

  7. Judaism is very excepting of homosexuality. At least reform and conservative. Not necessarily orthodox. Conservative jews are very religious, and if you wanted to be orthodox, you would still like being conservative.

  8. Yes, reform, conservative & reconstructionist will have no problem with it.  There are even some synagogues in major cities for those with, how do they put it, well for those of every ilk, including transsexual, etc..

Orthodox do follow the commandment for men not to sleep with men.  So, you could convert only if you choose to stop that action.  I saw an article from an Orthodox Rabbi trying to balance out all the angles on this.  It had several Rabbinic angles, but also had the concerns of Jewish parents in having children & wanting them to be happy, considering it's inherit, not "choice".  This is an area, that Orthodox Judaism has to figure out how to balance out.  There are sites & groups to help Orthodox Jews who are dealing with this...  I haven't been involved those so, I don't know more.

  9. I think you just answered your own question.

    I'll never quite "get" trolls who aren't funny . . . .
