  1. isn't it easier and faster just to drive the car?

  2. Just what are you powering? lights in your carport, or a recharger for your car? You aren't very specific in your needs, so it's hard to answer. And what are you converting FROM? City-supplied electricity? You need to give a better definition of what WAS, and what you WANT to do with it.

  3. You can use a small windmill if you live in an area with enouph wind.  Usually the small windmills only start to produce energy in 7.5-8mph wind and that wind should be sustained long enouph to be usefull.  If it turns out you don't have enouph wind I would suggest solar panels.  Either way you would need to connect the panels or turbine to a charge controler and from the charge controler to a battery/ battery bank and you can either use direct current lighting or hook up an inverter to convert the direct current into 120v alternating current.  You might want to check out www.northerntool.com  last time I was there it had some good charts about what your energy usage is and how much electricity you need to produce.   Other sites that sell solar or wind turbines have similar charts you can try bpsolar.com sharpsolar.com   etc.

  4. This is a good small system i have 2 on my motor home  and you can build it yourself cheap.

on my motor home i have solar and 2 wind gens that i set up when i camp.

it used to have a diesel generator but i took it out and replaced it with more batteries after not needing or running the gen for 2 years.

people camping around me like that.

this also lets me run 2 fans when i am not using the motor home. this keeps the inside wood paneling and other thing from getting to hot.
