I know it's hard- if he's been away for a long time, has moved on with his life and so on, it may be too late- but don't let that stop you from trying.... just meet up with him and really do everything you can to get him back- be pushy, but not too pushy. Especially if you have kids, bring them up briefly, but don't make him compromise- that relationship won't last long, and having a second break up is something that you don't want. But do tell him briefly about how it must hurt your kids (especially girls tend to be more hurt about such things than boys). Make sure you lead up to the question perfectly, and then... poof! Ask him directly. Tell him you still love and care for him and ask him if there is still anything there- anything at all. Tell him you can work with that. Just have a nice chat over coffee. If he says no don't be angry at him, don't beg, just simply ask a quiet "are you sure?", and move on.
