  1. Don't make something that isn't Cuban, and call it Cuban. If you get caught in the lie, how embarrassing would that be.

    Here:

    1½ cup water

    ½ cup rice

    1 slice of lemon peel

    1 cinnamon stick

    1 liter of milk

    1 cup refined sugar

    ¼ teaspoon salt

    1 teaspoon vanilla

    Ground cinnamon

    Rice Pudding (Arroz con leche)

    Cooking instructions:

Cook the rice in the water with the lemon peel and the cinnamon stick until the rice is tender. Add the milk, the salt and the sugar. Reduce heat and simmer until it thickens, for approximately one hour. Stir from time to time so as not to let it stick to the bottom of the pot. Put it into serving dishes and garnish with ground cinnamon.

P.S. nice try passing that recipe off as yours person above me.

  2. why would you label something that its not ?

look through this site to find  a Cuban recipe for something you might want to make

    http://www.tasteofcuba.com/

dont lie to people- the truth always comes out

  3. Nice try and I'm sure Cubans eat chocolate cake but I don't think that will fly.

Try some rice pudding/arroz con leche.......

2 cups rice (I used jasmine, since it was what I had on hand)

    1-1/2 cups water

1 small piece of lemon peel

    1 small cinnamon stick

    4 cups milk

    1 cup sugar

    1/4 tsp salt

    1 tsp vanilla extract

    Cinnamon powder

The recipe calls for washing the rice (in the old days, you had to pick through the rice and take little bits of trash and pebbles out, then wash it, as it was not clean) but I did not wash it.

Cook the rice in the water, lemon peel and cinnamon stick until rice is soft, about 10 minutes or so. Add the milk, salt, vanilla and sugar. Bring to just under a boil and turn down heat. Cook at medium-low heat, uncovered, until it gets thick and rice has absorbed most of the milk. Stir once in a while so it will not stick.  You can add raisins to it if you like.....maybe more sugar if that is good for you.

Fish out the cinnamon stick and pour into a bowl or several individual bowls and sprinkle with powdered cinnamon.  I put it in the oven to brown on the top a little myself......and spoon it from the dish.....this would be good for your use.

  4. u cant cook a cake ....u bake it

  5. If you want an F say it is, if you want an A try one of these ---

Classic Cuban Midnight (Medianoche) Sandwich ---

    INGREDIENTS

    4 sweet bread rolls

    1/2 cup mayonnaise

    1/4 cup prepared mustard

1 pound thinly sliced cooked ham

1 pound thinly sliced fully cooked pork

    1 pound sliced Swiss cheese

    1 cup dill pickle slices

    2 tablespoons butter, melted

    DIRECTIONS

Split the sandwich rolls in half, and spread mustard and mayonnaise liberally onto the cut sides. On each sandwich, place and equal amount of Swiss cheese, ham and pork in exactly that order. Place a few pickles onto each one, and put the top of the roll onto the sandwich. Brush the tops with melted butter.

Press each sandwich in a sandwich press heated to medium-high heat. If a sandwich press is not available, use a large skillet over medium-high heat, and press the sandwiches down using a sturdy plate or skillet. Some indoor grills may be good for this also. Cook for 5 to 8 minutes, keeping sandwiches pressed. If using a skillet, you may want to flip them once for even browning. Slice diagonally and serve hot.

    Arroz con Leche

"This Arroz con Leche is the Cuban version of rice pudding. It's richer and sweeter than regular rice pudding. Being Cuban myself, I prefer this version of this delicious dessert to any other. Before serving, sprinkle with cinnamon or garnish with a cinnamon stick, for flare."

    INGREDIENTS

    2 1/4 cups water

1 1/2 cups short grain rice

    1 (1/4 inch x 3 inch) strip lime peel

    1/2 cup water

    1 cinnamon stick

    2 tablespoons anise seed, crushed

1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk

1 (14 ounce) can condensed milk

    1 tablespoon vanilla extract

    1/4 teaspoon salt

    3/4 cup raisins (optional)

    DIRECTIONS

Combine 2 1/4 cups of water, rice, and lime peel in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes until the rice is tender.

While the rice is cooking, combine 1/2 cup of water, the cinnamon stick, and anise in another saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring mixture to a low boil for 3 minutes, then remove saucepan from stove. Strain flavored water into a bowl and set aside, discarding cinnamon stick and anise pieces.

After rice has simmered for 20 minutes, carefully remove the lime peel with a slotted spoon, and over low heat, gradually stir evaporated milk and condensed milk into the rice. Mix in the cinnamon and anise-flavored water, vanilla, and salt. Add raisins, if desired. Continue to stir until the mixture thickens, about 7 to 10 minutes.

If the pudding is too watery after 10 minutes, turn up heat to medium-low and stir continuously. When pudding reaches desired consistency, remove from heat and pour into individual dishes, or a large bowl. Store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Cuban-Style Yucca --- "Made with yucca, or cassava, a Latin American root vegetable similar to potatoes, this simple dish is the way my granny used to make it."

    INGREDIENTS

2 pounds yucca, peeled and sliced lengthwise

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1/4 cup olive oil

    1/2 onion, diced

    4 cloves garlic, minced

    1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

    DIRECTIONS

Place the yucca into a pan and fill with enough water to cover. Stir in salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, cover, and cook until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain, and place yucca on a serving plate.

Meanwhile, place the olive oil, onion, garlic, and lemon juice into a pan. Cook over medium heat about 5 minutes. Pour the hot olive oil mixture over the yucca, and serve immediately.

  6. Chocolate cake is not a traditional Cuban dessert.

Besides flan, a typical cuban dessert has already been posted.

If you're looking for an appetizer or side dish items, I suggest: tamales, fried yucca, fried plantains, ham croquetas, papas rellenas...or how about a salad? Simple: iceberg lettuce chopped, haas avocado slices, sliced tomatoes, and sliced white onions. The dressing would be an equal combination of olive oil and white vinegar.
