I have a BA in Biology and an MBA in business with 13 years of Biology Research experience (with a business.managerial focus) and would like to teach high school or grammar school Biology or Business courses (still need to take the MTEL exam). Does anyone know whether I could enter the teaching profession at a higher level with my experience? I can't afford to take a teaching job at entry level. Please advise. Thanks!

  1. no...you can only be given experience credits for teaching positions you have held...you will be at a slightly higher level than entry level because you have a master's degree but other than that everyone starts on the same level...

  2. No, no you can't.

  3. Job experience won't cut it for Massachusetts requirements for a degree plus certification (licensure).  Your credentials should bolster your standing however, and getting the licensure should be a breeze.  Good luck.
