Can I crosstrain into a critically-manned field in the Air Force before the 35-month mark?

I'm a 4-year enlistee and currently at my 24-month mark. I was wondering if there is an exception for applying to cross-train into certain AFSC's that are critically-manned before the 35-month mark.

Advice would be appreciated.

Maybe, if you are in an overage career field.  What people don't tell you is that you can't be denied applying for cross-training.  You can be denied cross-training but you can always turn in an application.  

Have you ever heard the phrase:  Let the AF tell you no?  Well, you have now....don't ever assume that you won't get what you want.   I've gotten every assignment I've ever wanted.(after the first one) ....I asked for it!
