Question:

Can I cut a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel's coat short so he will look like a puppy?

I love how a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy looks, but not so much when the hair grows too long as an adult. I don't intend to show her, just to keep her as a family pet. Would she be OK?

  1. Yeah but can I ask WHY you would get a dog who's coat you don't like when they are fully grown? Secondly their coats are not that long

  2. I own three cavaliers and must admit that at times they really do shed their coats and we find hair floating all over the place which is not very nice. I try to brush them daily outside during these periods. I must say that if you suffer asthma then you may well be allergic to this breed anyway as its not just the long hair that aggravates, but the lanolin at the base of the coat and no amount of clipping/shaving will solve this - therefore think very carefully before buying this breed and after all the cavalier has a beautiful coat that really should be left to grow to its natural state with just the tiniest bit of grooming to aid the dogs comfort.

  3. yeah she will be fine i have 2 ckcs and i shaved them for the summer cause they were getting to hot!! and they are totally fine email me at fashionchick818@aim.com if you want pics of mine before you shave yours

  4. She would be absolutley fine ...and it would be easy for you to take care of too ...

  5. Yes, she will be fine.  I do advise that you take her to a pro groomer who knows just how to make her hair gorgeous at any  length.  Don't let anyone "shave" her against the grain of her hair.  She needs a professional who knows Cavaliers.
