Can I cut a re-enforced glass splashback?

I have recently bought a black glass splashback to go behind my oven. However, it is slighlty too wide. Could I go somewhere to get about 1cm taken off it? If so - what kind of place would do this for me?

  1. It cannot be cut or drilled. If you try either it will just shatter. If it is laminated glass this is possible and a good glazing fitter will do.

  2. Any custom glass company should be able to give you recommendations

  3. To be more precise: if it is tempered glass, cutting or scratching it deeply will shatter it into thousands of small pieces.  It should have an etched marking.

If it is laminated, the plastic edge should be visible and it probably can be cut.

If it is just black glass, it can be cut.  A glass company looking at it is the best reference.
