Question:

Can I delete these folders without hurting my computer?

I keep getting an error report saying that a certain file (mixed numbers and letters .exe) has had an error. I can either send the report or not. If I'm not using my computer and I come back to it, I could have about 30 of these open that I have to cancel. I have searched the file and it's in C:/WINDOWS/Prefetch and also /System32. My question is, are these good folders or can I delete them? Please answer only if you really know. Thanks!

  1. No, System32 is a SYSTEM FOLDER... hence the name.

Prefetch is another system related folder.

Please, do yourselfa favor and get out of the windows folder all together.

Instead, use something like CCleaner of Cleanup40 to help prune unneeded files. These programs know what not to delete.

  2. Hi,

Never touch your system files. You are treading in a minefield.

The best cure would be to find a copy of PC magazine and download Registry Mechanic and run that. Also, you could go to PC Tools at

www.pctools and you may find it there also.

    Gd luck
