Can I deposit a check using an ATM?

I have a savings account with PNC and just recently I got a banking card (a debit that is connected to the savings account) and I got my first paycheck last week. Do I have to go inside the building to deposit a check or can I easily deposit the check using the ATM??? I don't want to mess up my check and accidentally not deposit it either. So what is easiest? And if i CAN use the ATM, how do I?

Thanks!

  1. no you have to go into the bank

  2. Yes you can. all you need to do is put your Signature on the back of the check put you card in the ATM and you will be given choices like withdraw, deposit and some others just select deposit and fallow the instructions. but i think that you can only deposit at ATM's at you bank not the ones at convenient stores

  3. Yes you can deposit into the ATM but I would not advise that because it can take up to 2 business days to get to your account because they only check the deposits once a day into the ATM at most banks.

I would also recommend setting up direct deposit with your employer so your payroll check goes directly into your checking account  and is readily available for you. It also can be deposited into a savings account as well.

  4. You don't want to deposit anything at the ATM.  (You can't.)  Use the night deposit to make a deposit at your bank.

  5. i do it all the time. i use bank of america. i know fifth third bank has it. i am not sure who else. but i love going to the atm instead of going to a tell. there are instructions on the machine to help you out with it.

I have had no problem with the atm deposits. i do it once a week.

  6. I dont know what these other people are talking about, obviously those Brits have never used an ATM in the USA, where everything is bigger and better :)  yes, you can deposit checks through the ATM.  I deposit a good number of them every week.  There are PNC's in my area as well (Ohio), and I KNOW this can be done.

  7. You can deposit a check if your bank's ATM accepts deposits.

  8. Yes, Bank of America allows customers to do that~

  9. yes you can use the ATM, the steps are straight forward and the screen will guide you through it.

The problem I have with depositing using an ATM is the funds are not credited to your account immediately.  So I prefer to go inside and deposit money.

    Good Luck.

  10. How do you think the atm is supposed to read the cheque?

Go into the bank and tell the teller to deposit your cheque.

  11. Well this is a simple one most banks will have deposit envelopes available to deposit checks, cash, or whatever you want to into your account.  I know not all ATM's have this feature, but a lot do and it doesn't have to be a PNC ATM, it's probably best to use there machines as far as fees are concerned, but select Deposit on the ATM, there should be ATM envelopes, don't forget to endorse your check fill out the info on the envelope and be prepared to wait a couple days for the check to clear.  It's fairly simple once you've done it a couple times.

  12. YES YOU CAN! I'm away at college and the bank I do my banking thru does NOT have a location in my college town. Look on the back of ur ATM/Debit card and it should have 2 names of ATM's u can deposit your check thru. The ATM takes in ur check and BOOM, U Got money in YOUR ACCOUNT! THIS WOKS

  13. You can deposit through your banks ATM without a problem. Make sure you endorse the check. Whether or not you can make an immediate withdrawal will depend on your banks rules. If you have a balance higher than the check than withdrawing money won't be a problem. Too deposit it in the ATM just insert your card, enter your pin select deposit. It will ask if you want to deposit to savings or checking, if you only have a savings account be sure to select savings. There should be envelopes at the ATM put the check in and the machine should tell you when to insert the envelope.
