Question:

Can I deposit check and fix car myself?

Hi,

I had an adjuster give an estimate of my car after another car had damaged one of my rear lights. She wrote out the check and it was paid out to me. I was wondering if I could deposit the check and fix it myself (less money) instead of going to an auto shop. Or is the check only allowed to be used for repairs in an auto shop?

  1. If you own the car, not still paying it off, you can deposit it and fix it yourself.  If you are still paying it off normally you and who you have your loan through has to sign the check and it is made out to the place fixing it.

  2. fix it your self and go have lunch on them for the inconvience

  3. when i got into a reck i took it to the cheapest place and what ever i had left over i went and spent, but im sure you can after you get an estiment they give you the money for it you can do whatever you want.

  4. The check has been made out to you and once it leaves the insurance place they do not care what you do with it. However it would be wise to fix your car so you do not inquire tickets from the cops for busted lights etc..If it would be cheaper to fix the car yourself, then go for it..

  5. DO WHAT YOU WANT WITH THE MONEY,YOU DONT EVEN HAVE TO REPAIR THE LIGHTS.ITS UP TO YOU.ONCE YOU SIGNED OFF ON THE ACCIDENT THE INSURANCE COMPANY IS NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CAR.CASH IT AND HAVE A GREAT DAY.
