I placed an order with office depot online and they sent the package through UPS. UPS systems shows the package was left at the front door, but someone stole it. Can i dispute this charge?

  1. Absolutely. Do it at once--- you have 60 days to do it, but the sooner the better. The credit card company will send you a form to fill out, asking what you've done to resolve the issue with the seller.

So... right after calling to dispute the charge, promptly complain to both office depot and UPS.

Usually the store will send out another item free ... and work it out with UPS for reimbursement to them, not you. But you should definitely inform UPS that leaving things on the door is not okay... they need to re-deliver or leave a notice for you to pick up at their location.

Between the three (credit card, seller, and UPS) you should get reimbursed OR a new item for free.

(But readers who may think they can do this as a scam should know they are almost always caught and it is considered fraud.... NOT worth it!... what to speak of being moral etc.)

  2. Your first complaint should be with UPS.  You paid for the shipping, and they insure every package.  They will reimburse you for the loss.

If that fails somehow, then yes, contact the card company and tell them the package was not at your door.

  3. Yes, you should because you never received it.  Either do that or have them resend the item.

  4. absolutely.  but this is a time is of the essence type thing so do it quickly
