Question:

Can I do 300 Watts to a 650 Watt subwoofer?

So i got this amp of 300W 1channel ( 150watts into 4 ohm )......Im looking into buying a subwoofer speaker that is 650Watts ( 375W rms )......Willl they work fine connected to each other and can I run 2 of these subwoofer speakers?.......Acutually can I run larger subwoofers with higher Watt rating with this Amplifier?....Please help!

  1. Yep. You can use a lower power than the speaker is rated for. Just don't use something with more power or you'll see your investment go up in smoke (literally)


  2. As someone already answered yes you can....

    2nd is how well will it perform?  with one you may get it to move and play....but will it hit low and hard?  not necessarily.  If you buy two.....eek....probably will not be enough to make it do much.  And you may then cause damage to the amp or subs because you may want to turn the gains up....and volume up and still get no GOOD results because your ears will want more, but the signal you send will probably cause the subs to clip.  Clipping causes the voice coils to heat up and burn up.  Doesnt matter how much power, it all depends on the signal.
