Question:

Can I donate eggs if I am bipolar?

I have been diagnosed as bipolar for 2 months and I'm on lamictal and ativan. I heard there was a psychological exam during the screening process, but does this disqualify me? I don't think there is a family history of it.

  1. I wouldn't because you could get a child diseased. Not being rude but my dad is bipolar and now i believe i am. only 15 but i just know.

  2. It might and the fact that you are on medication might as well.  I am bipolar and I have thought about this before.

  3. I have wondered the same thing since i have bipolar as well.  I think they may not accept just because even though there is no proven genetic link to bipolar, there is clear evidence of a possible genetic link.  Though if your really want to, talk to them, worst that could happen is you go in and they tell you they cant accept you as a doner.  Dont think the meds would be an issue since you are not going to be carrying a developing baby.  But i guess it could be possible they may accept you, especially if you are a milder easily conroled case that they just make note of it and possibly warn parnents about it because there could be some chance of a child inheriting it.
