Question:

Can I double up wax toilet gaskets?

I just tiled my bathroom and have a subfloor and tile so it raised my toilet up enough that a wax gasket won't work. Will it work to double up on them or is there any better ideas?

  1. No No No, do that then pull the toilet and you will see why.

Double wax = double clog. I see many.

Closet flange extender is required as the flange must be above the finished grade.

Silicone and secure the extender to the flange. Set the toilet with one no-seep wax ring. Grout the toilet, caulk in 24 hours. Do not use or disturb the toilet until then.

  2. Yes you can double up on the wax ring and it will work just fine.  You can also buy a toilet flange extender that will set in your toilet flange, it is easy to install just cover the top of old flange with silicone caulk.  The cost is about $5.00 .  I would go for the toilet flange extender.

    Good luck

  3. go to a plumbing supply store. they sell flange kits that don't use wax and that are tall enough for the higher applications.some are special designed for just your situation. save the mess of the wax. trust me they work great.
