You can get Word for your mac if you want.  However, you can't download it for free.  Microsoft wants to get paid.

google openoffice - it works fine - better than microsofts actually and it's free

am a pc person. if you're so worried that microsoft's word can muck your system up, why install it in the first place? i am sure that apple has a word processor software. why not use it?

have you tried 'open office writer'? they do 'open ofice' which is basicly a free version of miscrosoft office without all the glitz and glam but it works.

Not sure hor it fares with macs but on my vista desk top its fine.
