Can I drive a car with Mexican diplomatic license plates in the USA?

By this I mean diplomatic plates issued in Mexico. I bought the car in the US but immediately took it across the border and registered it in Mexico

Yes, assuming you're licensed and insured.  Unlike Mexico who requires US drivers to buy Mexican insurance, the US will recognize your Mexican insurance policy here.
