I am looking to drive to and from a place 500 miles away. I'd rather rent an economy car with unlimited miles to save on fuel mileage and additioinal miles on my truck. Is there anything wrong with doing that in the rental company's eyes??? Will they be looking to fine/charge me in anyway with they see the miles I will have put on the car? Anyone have experience in doing this???

  1. Rental companies don't care if you rent a car for a long trip, however most of them do require you tell them if you will be leaving the state.

  2. Sounds like a reasonable idea.  Depending on the truck the fuel savings may just pay for the rental.  Most of the major companies have offices all over so it should not be a problem.  Be honest with them if they ask or if it is on the paperwork.  Many rentals have GPS and/or tracking capabilities in their vehicles.
