Can I drive my car, registered in the US, in Canada for a few days?

I am an international student who has F-1 VISA to stay in the US.

I have a valid driver's license of Illinois and insurance of an US insurance campany. And I'm a citizen of a country who deosn't need a VISA to get into Canada for trips no longer than 6 months.

I'm planning to visit my friend, living by the boarder line of US and Canada, and I will stay there for a few days driving my car.

Is it possible to drive my car around in Canada?

Will there be any problem crossing the boarder?

Do Canadian police pull me over for having a US license plate?

You can drive your US-registered car in Canada and you should be fine.  Make sure that you

A) bring your passport -- everyone needs a passport to travel between the US and Canada now.  And make sure you have your F-1 Visa with you.

B) bring your drivers' license

C) bring your valid insurance papers

I would also suggest, however, that you check with your insurance agency in the US and make sure you are insured to drive your car to Canada.  Some insurance policies limit where you can drive the car -- even sometimes out of the state, so make sure you are insured if you take the car out of the country.
