  1. 1986 Pontiac Parisienne..

That's a boat,,,it will sail over snow with no problem..

    Get some good tires...

Change the plugs,,fuel filter , air filter,, Put some fuel system cleaner in the gas tank..That may help with the sluggishness..

    Good Luck

  2. Can I drive my car in the snow?

    Not in Dubai.

  3. Depends on how much snow there is where you are but unless you live someplace really far north you probably can do without snow tires. Ask your friends/coworkers etc. if they put on snow tires. You do have to be careful b/c I think your car is RWD which is not as good as FWD when it snows. Just make sure the tires you have still have some tread, don't try to drive around on bald tires. And you will have to learn to accelerate gently and not turn or brake abruptly.

  4. Snow tires will help to bring more traction to the rear wheels. your car is the same as a Chevrolet Impala, Oldsmobile 88/98 and Buick LeSabre/Electra. The motors that came with each car are V6 and V8's. It is possible to replace(swap) a motor with more power( from a Camaro, Firebird, Monte Carlo even a Corvette!)

  5. It is the same car as a Chevy Caprice/Impala of the same year.

Thing is, you may say it doesn't have power, but do not confuse power with speed. Two different things. It might SEEM like it hasn't any power, but that's cuz it weighs a million pounds. Thing is, you could certainly pull a trailer with a small boat on it, while your entire family sits inside. Try doing that in a "quick" little Honda Civic.

As for snow driving, having owned 2 of these cars, I would have to say yes. It helps if you know how to drive in the snow, but it is definitely do-able. IDK if you have posi-rear or not. Posi helps, but snow tires are a must. The people who tell you that you don't need snow tires, are the same ones who don't drive until the plow truck comes.

Well, life is not always so convenient. Snow tires work. If you are on roads that get much snow, with little plowing, chains are even better.

A rear wheel drive vehicle needs weight in the back for traction.Fill the trunk with sand or cat litter. 100 lbs is good. You can use this when you are stuck on ice, and it will offer good downward pressure on your rear tires.

Also, you must take great care in braking. Braking while turning must be avoided as much as possible, no matter how scary it seems. You will almost always loose the front, and the car will go in the direction it prefers, not the one you are steering it in.

the best way to learn is take your car to the largest open parking lot at the first sight of snow. Try different things and manuevers until you loose control, and then try them differently until you gain control. Do this as much as possible until the cops come. And enjoy the donuts, in the parking lot, or at the police station.

Keep in mind, people drove rear-wheel drive cars for a hundred years in the snow. Everyone is such a baby these days. When was the last time you saw a front-wheel drive schoolbus?

  6. Yes you can drive in the snow.  Just realize you need more time to slow down cause of the slickness of snow/ice.  So just drive a little slower and take extra caution till you get use to it.
