  1. I suppose you are in North America.... you'll need to go to the AAA, show your license and have them issue you an International Drivers License. You'll need this to drive in Italy - if you get stopped and don't have an International Drivers License you can get fined, the car will be confiscated and you may get thrown in jail.

It costs a small fee at the AAA and it's good for a year. Play it safe and go prepared.

  2. are you asking do you mean in italy? i'm assumming you got a u.s dl?? or whaT? IM SURE WERE  EVER YOU ARE YOUR GONNA DRIVE IF YOU GET STOPPED FOR WHATEVER REASON MAYBE THEY GIVE YOU A WARNING TOO  GO TOO THERE DMV OR WHO KNOWS I MYSELF WOUD GO TOO THERE DMV AND THAT WILL STOP YOU OR WHOMEVER FROM ANY PROBLEMS ON DRIVING WERE YOUR AT OR VISITING. THAT WAY YOU KNOW FOR SURE .

  3. You can drive with a US driver licence...not too sure about the other country's-----

  4. In Australia it costs $50 to get an International Driving Permit (IDP) that lasts one year. This is available to anyone who holds a current Australian driver's licence. Therefore i would assume that you need to have this form of licence, after all how are the Italian authorities meant to know all the different types of driver's licences from around the world? Better to be safe than sorry.

  5. Yes, you can drive in Italy on a valid foreign license. An international driver's permit  (IDP) is useful, but not mandatory. The IDP is not a license. It translates your home license into several languages so the police can understand the information if you're asked for your license.

By the way, if you do go through a routine checkpoint, when you're asked for your patente - they want to see your license.
