Can I dye an afghan made with worsted wt red heart fleck yarn (cream colored - different dye lots)?

  1. As far as I know, Red Heart yarn doesn't have dye lots, at least mine doesn't. So you should be ok.

  3. Well, you could, but you need to keep in mind that Acrylic yarns (such as Red heart) do not dye easily (as they are synthetic), and the process for dying Acrylic yarns can be quite dangerous if you are unfamiliar with the dying process.

    The dyes used to color Acrylic yarns are stronger chemicals, and your regular RIT dyes will not work at all. Keeping in mind that you're basically working with shredded plastic, heating it up, and adding chemicals to change the color, it can be a bit of an undertaking to do safely.

    Do some heavy research before trying it at home, please!
