My father in law is a former finish carpentar and can do the work like frame the two outside walls and install the drywall that will go on the inside of room and install the windows. My question is under our wooden porch which we will remove there is a cement slab and we would like to install vinyl flooring, can we do this??

  1. The slab will not be sufficient to build the addition on, you will need to install proper footings and/or foundation.

I would build the new floor to match the height of the existing interior floor.  The structure could be on piers rather than a full foundation.  The wall structure could then be built on the new level deck enclosed up to the roof line.

if you want to use the lower elevation, you likely will need to replace or reinforce and level the existing slab in accordance with local building codes.
