I have recently received a small banana tree. I have plenty of fertilizer (Expert Gardener, organic mix) but it has a short life. (3 months) Since it's a banana tree I was wondering if I could add some banana to the soil to add all the right nutrients, or would that not help?

I was planning on doing this by sun-drying the bananas in thin slices and then grounding them up and sprinkling it on top of the soil like a maniac by the way. Are there any problems with this? I don't want to smell the rotten banana. Eww...

  1. That will help some but sounds like a lot of work for just a little return. I think you would do better to use them in a compost bin or worm farm.
