I am planning to stay there for 4 weeks. Buying an one way ticket seems to save some money.

  1. you may be denied entry to Australia and in some cases you will be denied boarding your flight to Australia with a one way ticket.I wouldn't risk ruining your trip

happened to me,i had to buy a return ticket at the airport before i could board the plane

  2. The rule about needing a return ticket is not absolute, but you would definitely need to show evidence of ample funds to fund your stay in addition to the cost of a return ticket.

It's far easier to simply buy the return ticket now and be done with it. In any case, with rising oil prices forcing airfares up so quickly, it will almost certainly end up cheaper to buy it now and fix the price at today's fare cost. Who knows what the fare will cost after 3 months?
