Can I ever learn how to swim even at a late age?

nothing is impossible, well some things are but this isnt.  if you go to the pool and get to learn more and more about swimming then you should be able to do it on your own.

I am 1958 born and joined a swimming class last November and learnt swimming within a month.  Since then I regularly go for swimming every morning.  It is a very good exercise.  You will really enjoy it.

yes you can! being able to swim (or at least keep yourself afloat) is a matter of buoyancy. by inhaling and keeping a certain amount of air in your lungs, combined with small movements of your hands and feet mostly downwards, you will be able to keep your head above water. when teaching kids swimming one relies on them copying what you do. as an adult you do have the advantage of reasoning logic and physics and the power to overcome fear...

It's never too late. You may have to get over some fears and/or be open to learning something new. My suggestion...get private one on one lessons from an experienced teacher who's worked with adults. I'm signing my husband up at a local swim school. He can't even tread water and I'm worried he'd drown someday.

Definitely!  I am 23 years old and I learned to swim this past may along with my older sister.  I was very nervous and embarrassed, but there are alot of older people out there that don't know how to swim.  I was shocked that our swim class had 5 other adults in there.  We signed up for classes through the city which was so much cheaper then the YMCA,etc.  I hope this helps!

It is never to late to learn how to swim if you are worried about people watching you go to the lake in the morning or go to a YMCA or a 24 hour gym with a pool it wont take you long and you will be swimming good luck
