  1. You might be lucky to find a money changer who'll do it for you, but the exchange rate will not be favorable.

I suggest you to bring a credit card (Visa, Mastercard) or cash (EUR or USD).

  2. I would exchange my Peso in USA Dollar before I left.  US Dollar is used all over the country.  cheers c

  3. no, VN only welcome people who carry US Dollar......lol....

  4. Can you?  Yes.  Should you?  No.

You are better off changing PHP to USD in Philippines then flying to Vietnam and use the USD to buy VND.  This is because the margin on PHP to USD and then USD to VND combined will be less than the PHP-VND margin in Vietnam.

Many places in Vietnam will also take USD.  Some shops will give you a better rate for the USD than for the VND.   The current exchange rate is about 16k VND = 1 USD.  I have been able to get rates as high at 20k VND for 1 USD, and will often use the dollar as an added bargaining tool.  I find that if I am negotiating something and the seller is demanding 100k VND and I am offering 80k, I can sometimes offer 5 USD and the deal will go through.

Also be aware that once you leave Vietnam, any VND you have with you will be almost worthless anywhere else in the world.  Very few places will buy VND overseas.

  5. Yes through any world bank...and also at the airport. They however short change you on the exchange rate.

  6. Any bank will exchange your peso. The rate will not be great.

You could also try a jewelery store. You may get a better rate.

  7. the answer from inog said it all,,,,very good recomment!

  8. If you're talking about exchanging PHP for VND in Vietnam, the major banks in Vietnam will probably be the only place to do so. As Rick M mentioned, the exchange rate will not be all that great. Current PHP-VND exchange rate is around 360-VND:1-PHP, but I doubt you will received that much for your peso if you do an over the counter exchange. Also, you're not going to find many jewelers exchanging PHP for VND (sorry Rick), as they usually exchange for either USD or Euros.

I would recommend exchanging your PHP for USD before going to Vietnam and then exchanging USD while there. VND comes in a variety of colors, but the Viets like greenbacks more.

You could contact one of the banks in Vietnam to find more detailed information. Here's a link to my bank in Vietnam:

    Vietcombank: http://vietcombank.com.vn/

    Good luck!

  9. i think you can change Peso to VND in Vietnam.

If you are in Hanoi, you can exchange your money at Ha Trung str. (1km distance from Hoan Kiem Lake). This street's well-known 'cos traveler can exchange their money to almost popular currencies, including Asean countries (Thailand Bath, Lao Kip, $Singapore...).

But $US, Euro, Visa, Master Card is prefered.
