Can I expect to have the same near vision with contacts as I do with my glasses?

  1. Yes, with exceptions for certain circumstances.

    If you have a high Rx, and are near the age for needing reading glasses, with the correct Rx for distance you are likely to be slightly better off for near with contacts than glasses if longsighted, and the other way around if shortsighted.  The effect is not massive, but it does exist.

    Additionally some contacts for astigmatism may stabilise differently when looking down and in for reading, and in a minority of cases this can adversely affect the close vision.
