I have a spare wireless router at work, and everyone was wondering if I would be able to use it to extend a network/repeat the wireless signal to get better coverage. Is this possible? It would be awesome.

  1. take a UTP cable and connect to the new router, after that make sure the name of the router, IP of the router, security of the router is all the same and your good to go.

  2. Yes you can on some router like SMC which has wireless distribution system(WDS)  feature, check your wireless router if it has this feature you can extend the your existing network with it without using any cable.

even without it you can use it to extend the network by using cable to hook that old router on other area then use it as access point.
