*Can I feed my cockatiel a cherry?*

If I take the seed out

of the cherry, and cut it up nicely, can I feed it to my cockatiel?

Cherries are fine for cockatiels, my cockatiel enjoys them himself.  Just make sure that you wash it well to avoid your bird ingesting any unwanted chemicals/pesticides, and also take out the pit as they can be harmful to your bird.  Let us know how he/she reacts to a cherry for the first time :) Hope this helps.

  6. I don't see why not. Just make sure they are fresh and clean. Also steer clear from the maraschino cherries since those are loaded with syrup and sugar.  

  7. Yes. You don't need to cut it up. But since the pit is about a size that can be swollowed, it may be good to remove it just to be safe.  I've fed my eclectus cherries many times (unpitted) and have never had a problem.  By the way, you should be feeding your bird lots of fruits and veggies every day.  A "seed only" diet is insufficient for the nutritional needs of a bird.
