  1. yes no chocolate

  2. Cockatoo?  I hope you mean cockatiel...

Birds can be fed any number of grains and fresh fruits and vegetables, however it is essential that you NEVER get a bird chocolate OR avocado.  Both are lethal to birds.

Vegetables help provide a lot of fiber and vitamins that birds would not necessarily get from an exclusively fruit or seed-based diet.  Birds should NEVER be fed seed-only, so enjoy the variations! However, do note that when birds eat really fleshy fruits and vegetables they will go to the bathroom a lot more, with a lot more 'wetness' -- this is actually urine (polyuria) and not diarrhea, and is normal.

But for all fruits and vegetables you must make sure that they are well washed. You should remove the seeds and/or pits.

Other things you can feed your birds:

    - Dried fruits (like raisins and prunes)

    - Green vegetables (spinach, broccoli, carrot tops, celery leaves, parsley, etc.)

    - grated cheese

    - eggs (hard-boiled or scrambled)

    - canned tuna fish (packed in water) - But not too often!  Canned tuna contained mercury that can be lethal if injested frequently. Don't feed more than once a week

    - dry cereals (not the coloured, sugary kind!  Try Chex, cheerios, Fiber 1, etc)

    - Bread (toasted or fresh)

Just be sure to remove all uneaten bits before they get moldy or start to rot, as that could also make your bird(s) very sick.

As an additional tidbit, when cooking be sure not to use ANY pots or pans made out of Teflon.  Heated teflon produces airborne chemicals in the air that WILL kill your birds. So remember that when cooking food either for yourself or your feathered friends, and remove any teflon pans from your home.

  3. Do not feed them avocados or chocolate or meats of any kind. Otherwise they should enjoy eating most everything you offer them if they like it.

  4. I don't know what people on here are talking about, with "no meat of any kind". Small amounts of meat (healthy meat, such as small pieces of turkey or chicken breast for example, NOT fatty or salty spicy meats like salami) are fine for a larger bird such a cockatoo. I can't imagine it even being harmful to a parakeet but I don't know if it's something they would want to eat. I own an African Grey and often give her bits of healthy meats, veggies and grains from my plate.
