Can I file a dispute on a debit card?

I need to file a dispute but am I able to if it is a debit card or are you only able to do it with credit cards? It is for $1000 and the bank is Citibank.

  1. Yes, and do it immediately. It doesn't matter if it's a debit card, it's your money, and they have an obligation to meet your needs as a customer.


  2. Yes, you can do it on a debit as well as a credit card.  Either go to your bank and file the dispute with the manager, or usually you can do it over the phone with their customer service reps.

    Just walk through the necessary steps with the bank and retailer in question

  5. Yes. Go to a bank and ask to see a personal banker. Explain the situation. The bank then files the dispute with the company that is charging you. Then the company will either refund it or say no it was a legitimate purchase. If you say it wasn't that is when you have to speak to an attorney.

    Now if it is fraud then contact the bank asap and the police. You need to turn your card off!
