I got one receipt for the first application for extension (I 539)until July 31st 2008 but I need to stay until December 12th 2008 so I put in another application for extension until December 12th. What are the chances on me getting another receipt for this second ectension?

  1. Your chances of getting a second approval are much poorer than your chances were of getting the first approval, but you can apply for a second extension. There isn't any regulation that says you are not allowed to try.

  2. if your request is acceptable, they might. however, they will also look at the period of time where you are in the US versus the period of time that you are in your own country.

basically, the b1/b2 visa allows a maximum of 6 months extension at one time and its a tourist visa, not meant for living in the us.

they may think that you are living in us instead of just there for tourism or business purpose.

give as much information as you can for the application.

if you are able to get an extension, good enough but if your extension is denied and you are still in us at that time, you will have to leave immediately and your b1/b2 visa will be void.

you need to reapply in your own country the next time before you go back.
