I'm going to court to file the paperwork for custody of my grandchildren. My husbands name and my name is on the paperwork as joint petitioner's. Does my husband have to go with me just to file or can I just go alone??

  1. You can go alone.  In fact, you can use a messenger service to deliver it to the clerk.

  2. From a lawyer.  A stranger can file it.  Law firms use couriers.  No problem.

  3. As long as any signatures required on it have been notarized there is no problem filing it.  Lawyers file for their clients all the time, and they have clerks that run to the courthouse for them.  So you should be ok.
