Call and ask if they have one in at the moment. If not, ask for the other Petsmarts/ Petco's numbers in the area and try them.

Probably, but your best bet is to try to find a decent breeder or dedicated reptile store instead. Reptiles bought from pet stores tend to be malnourished, improperly cared for and carry more diseases. You stand a far better chance of obtaining a healthy specimen from a breeder.
