Can I find a decent police scanner for under $100?

Question

Can someone explain features, benefits and drawbacks? I live in Phoenix, AZ, there is a LOT of stuff that happens here, and there is a certain excitement to hear all the happenings and the police calls.

Why?  My inlaws have one, and bring it with them on family functions.  Effin thing drives me up a wall.  I don't know why people feel they have the need to know everything.  It's the cops business, let them handle it.

I have an older Radio Shack model (PRO-75) that works great for me. Radio Shack currently has two desktop and two handheld models for under $100.

Depends If Your Police department is still working with analog radios you can buy one easily for 100 or under but if they work with an upper band frequency you might want to save up. If They Are Digital The Lowest You Would Be Able To get A Digital trunking scanner would maybe be 250 n eBay
